LSAT Preparation Tips and Tricks

The Law School Admission Test or the LSAT is an examination that allows all the ABA- approved law schools all over United States, Australia and Canada to select the prospective students and grant them admission. The test is conducted by the Law School Admission Council (LSAC) four times a year. A candidate can appear for an LSAT exam for only three times in two years. In order to begin effective preparation of the exam, one needs to set their goals first and then plan accordingly. It is suggested that at least two months of preparation is necessary to ace the exam.

Best Schools that accept the LSAT scores:
All the reputed universities want to admit students who have obtained the best LSAT scores. Some schools take an average of the multiple LSAT scores while some take the highest of the LSAT scores of an individual. When the student obtains more or less similar scores on multiple tests, an average is calculated and taken into consideration. Some of the top universities that accept the highest score are,
  • Cornell University
  • University of Pennsylvania
  • Syracuse University
  • University of North Carolina
  • University of California, Los Angeles
  • University of Illinois
  • University of Pittsburgh
  • University of Minnesota
And many more.

The Best Books for LSAT Prep:
The LSAT Logic Games Bible is an easily understandable and extremely useful book. It gives explanations along with solutions that are why it is the best. The official LSAT Super Prep is another great book that offers numerous questions and coherent answers for each. The content is of excellent quality, and the book is recommended by most tutors. Kaplan and Barron’s LSAT preparation books are of tremendous use to students who want to write many sample tests before taking up the actual one. CDs and DVDs featuring tests that are very much similar to the real test are available in most of these books, so the students have the exposure and practice dealing with the online tests and feel confident on the day of the exam. Another good book, How to Write Essays by Bryan Greetham is not relevant to the test but helps one to improve one’s essay writing skills that are much needed for scoring well in the LSAT essay.

Best Course to Perfect the LSAT:
We might have seen many institutions offering guidance and classes to help students score effectively in their LSATs. But how do we know which one is the best? To choose the good institution, one can begin asking friends and neighbors, or even seniors at their schools about where they went to for classes. Based on a survey conducted online, it was seen that the best LSAT preparation was provided by PowerScore and the second best by TestMasters. Majority of students found that Kaplan was also a good tutor but Oxford received the least votes. Private tutoring could be taken if one can afford it, else going by heresy and the poll would be a wise move.
